openWRT - PPTP VPN Connection

This blog post will describe how to allow PPTP VPN connection to be established by hosts behind an OpenWRT router.

After suffering from troubleshooting VPN issues for a second time, I have decided to write down this blog post detailing the steps to have a PPTP VPN connection established by hosts behind an OpenWRT router.

We first will need the below ports forwarded to our hosts:

And finally, the following packages installed to allow GRE traffic :

gre
kmod-gre
kmod-gre6
kmod-nf-nathelper-extra
ppp-mod-pptp

We are now able to connect to our VPN provider :
